BIOLOGY What is involved in cloning? |
For the past few years, we are more and more familiar with the term ’cloning’. In some cases, cloning has been considered as an option in medical treatment and reproduction. However, there are many who still do not know much about cloning. What is cloning exactly? What is involved in the process? Are there any side effects? |
Cloning is a process of reproduction without undergoing sexual fertilization. An instance of cloning will be the breeding of cassava. Cassava is bred by cutting off cassava’s stem and planting the cut stem into ground. Using similar principle, it is possible to breed living creatures through cloning, although it requires sophisticated technology. |
PHYSICS Why do we have to wear seatbelts? Do you know the reason why cars are equipped with seatbelts? |
We know that seatbelt is provided for safety reason, but what kind of safety it provides? During a ride, seatbelt is useful for anyone wearing it to prevent them from experiencing what we call Newton’s First Law of Motion. |
Let’s see what Newton’s First Law of Motion states: |
“When the resultant force on an object is zero, if the object is motionless, it will keep on motionless, but if the object has initial speed, it will continue to move in a straight line with that initial speed.” Let’s take a look at how the law relates to the above cas |
